So I’ve wondered if more CEOs are stepping down. It’s sure felt like it.
Recently we’ve seen the CEOs of Asana, Discord, Twilio, Instacart and Ironclad step down, among others.
It felt like a trend, but I wasn’t sure. Well, the Wall Street Journal has the data. It’s a trend, indeed.
First, 2,221 CEOs quit / left at U.S. businesses over 25 employees left last year. Up 24% (!)
The highest on record … ever. At least since 2002:
And CEO departures at public companies also hit a record.
Times were good in ‘21 … but departures have picked up dramatically since then. To record rates as well:
Look, this stuff is hard. I get it. We all do.
But get help. You’re often just one truly great VP away from things being significantly better.
