So Gartner has a CRO survey and report out that gets at a question I’ve often wondered about: shouldn’t a CRO or VP of Sales be a bit reluctant to take a role when the current CRO / VPS isn’t working out?
It’s always seem a potential flag to me on some level, and yet I’ve seen most top CROs and VPs of Sales I know have no problem replacing someone underperforming.
The data supports you might as well get used to it as a sales leader … and not worry too much about it as a sales leader:
55% of Sales Leaders Replace a Sales Leader That “Failed” or “Underperformed”
The point here isn’t to debate if those execs really underperformed. Some likely didn’t. The answers are in some ways subjective.
It’s still telling. Most of you at CRO / VP of Sales are going to replace an underperformer.
