Every B2B + AI company is setting its 2027 event budget right now. Most will spread it across too many events, pick them off lists built from organizer press releases, and find out by Q3 that half the booths produced nothing.

Yes, we run one of these events. Discount this post accordingly. But we also sponsor, attend, and walk a lot of other floors, and we’ve watched our portfolio companies spend real money on events that looked great in the deck and empty in person.

Almost Every Attendance Number You’ll See Is Self-Reported

Nearly every attendance figure in every “best events” list comes from the organizer. Nobody audits them.

HumanX is a good example. Its own release said 6,500 attended in San Francisco in 2026. A roundup published on the event’s final day said 12,000+. Neither was independently counted, and the read from the floor was that it felt far emptier than either number.

The Google-generated “best events” lists repeat these figures as fact. So do the AI-written guides ranking for “best B2B conferences 2027.” Every one we checked copied organizer numbers straight through.

Ignore the headline attendance number. Find someone who walked the floor last year and ask them.

Five Questions to Ask Before You Sign Any Sponsorship

1. Who controls budget in that room? One CRO or VP Sales with a real tool budget is worth 50 practitioners. If you sell to revenue leaders, 2,000 of them beat a 30,000-person conference full of engineers.

2. How many leads did last year’s sponsors get, and from whom? Ask for actual lead counts by sponsor, not a range in a sponsorship deck. Then ask a few of those sponsors directly.

3. How many sponsors are you competing with? One 2027 guide lists 700+ sponsors for a single AI conference. At that density, only the top-tier packages get noticed.

4. Is it a platform event? Dreamforce, Google Cloud Next, and HubSpot’s UNBOUND can work well, but only if you sell into that platform’s installed base.

5. Is the organizer’s events business growing or shrinking? A shrinking events P&L usually means a smaller room than the brand implies. Public companies report this every quarter.

Tier 1: Events Built Around AI + GTM Buyers

SaaStr AI Annual: May 11-12, 2027, SF Bay Area

Our event, so weigh this however you want. It has become an agents + GTM event: founders, CROs, CMOs, and VCs, with programming built around deploying AI in revenue orgs.

Top nine sponsors by leads at SaaStr AI Annual 2026:

  • Replit: 1,423 leads
  • Lightfield: 1,062
  • Aurasell: 1,046
  • Salesforce: 1,027
  • Rippling: 921
  • OpenRouter: 915
  • Google for Startups: 817
  • Vivun: 793
  • Lovable: 605

The top performers weren’t only GTM tools. Replit, Lovable, and OpenRouter sell to builders. Rippling sells HR and payroll. Lightfield, Aurasell, Salesforce, and Vivun sell into revenue teams. The same room produced 600+ leads for each of them.

The booth drove a lot of it. Aurasell’s head of event marketing said they had the busiest booth on the show floor, and their founding SDR posted that one company switched to Aurasell five days after first meeting them there.

Stage time mattered too. Artisan’s CEO ran a live demo of its AI BDR on stage. Artisan’s own numbers from a prior SaaStr event: 634 qualified leads, $249K in ARR closed on-site, and $2M in pipeline delivered or influenced.

The leaderboard counts are ours, and above we told you to be skeptical of organizer numbers. Artisan’s figures come from Artisan. Apply the same test to all of it: ask us for sponsor references and call them.

Tier 2: Strong If Your Buyer Fits Exactly

Gartner CSO & Sales Leader Conference: Spring 2027, Las Vegas

The closest analyst-firm event to a pure revenue-leader room. Gartner says the 2026 edition drew 1,600+ CSOs and sales executives. That’s self-reported, but the audience is tightly defined: CSOs, heads of sales, sales ops, and enablement leaders. 2027 dates aren’t posted yet; 2026 ran May 19-20.

Gartner’s events business is growing. Conferences revenue rose 15.5% year over year in Q2 2026, to $244M. Attendance across its destination conferences was roughly flat, so the growth is coming from pricing and sponsors, not bigger rooms. Expect to pay up.

Google Cloud Next: April 13-15, 2027, Las Vegas

Google’s own wrap-up cited 32,000+ on-site in 2026. Self-reported, but a crowd that size at Mandalay Bay is hard to fake.

The audience is CIOs, CTOs, cloud architects, data leaders, and developers. Revenue leaders are a small slice. Sponsor only if you’re on Google Cloud Marketplace or co-selling with Google’s field team, and focus on the Partner Summit on April 12, where ISVs, channel partners, and systems integrators meet.

Gartner Marketing Symposium/Xpo: June 7-9, 2027, Denver

Gartner’s CMO event, at the Gaylord Rockies near Denver airport. Worth it if enterprise marketing leaders are your exact buyer. It’s more expensive and more analyst-driven than Forrester’s B2B Summit, and on current numbers it’s the healthier of the two.

AI for Marketers Summit: February 24-25, 2027, Las Vegas

A narrower, marketing-specific AI event. It fits only if your ICP sits inside marketing.

Tier 3: Proceed Carefully

HumanX: March 7-10, 2027, Las Vegas

The attendence in 2026 didn’t match the claims, and the organizer is pitching 700+ sponsors for 2027. The event moves back to Vegas after one year in San Francisco. If you go, consider buying into the structured meeting programs, SolutionBridge for vendors and VentureConnect for startups, and skip the booth.

Forrester B2B Summit: May 2-4, 2027, Phoenix

Forrester’s events revenue fell 17% year over year in Q2 2026, to $8.5M, and management says it’s deliberately moving to shorter, smaller formats. Total company revenue is down 10%, and full-year guidance calls for a 9-12% decline. For 2027 it’s offering 2026 attendees a free ticket for a first-time colleague.

It’s a CMO-org event, so it’s worth it only if enterprise marketing leaders are your exact buyer. Ask for 2026 sponsor references before you sign.

GTM Alliance: AI for GTM Festival, January 21, 2027 (SF), and Go-to-Market Festival, June 16, 2027 (London)

Smaller events, with the AI track co-located alongside RevOps and Sales Enablement summits. Useful if your buyer is the RevOps team. Don’t expect budget-holding executives in volume.

Platform Events: Dreamforce, UNBOUND, Knowledge, Sapphire, Adobe Summit (March 23-25, 2027)

The same logic as Google Cloud Next applies. They’re worth it for ISVs selling into that ecosystem and hard to justify for anyone else.

Others to Note: Vertical Events at Scale

These aren’t AI + GTM events, but they’re where specific verticals buy. If your ICP sits inside one of these industries, they can beat any horizontal show.

Shoptalk Spring: March 22-24, 2027, Las Vegas

Retail and ecommerce’s main event. The organizer claims 10,000+ attendees, 1 in 3 C-suite, and 50,000+ pre-booked meetings in 2026. Its meetings program is the model worth copying: qualified retail buyers get a free all-access ticket and a $750 travel reimbursement in exchange for eight 15-minute meetings with the vendors they choose. If you sell into retailers or consumer brands, this is likely the highest-density buyer room of the year.

Money20/20 USA: October 2027, Las Vegas

Fintech and payments’ main event. The 2026 edition runs October 18-21. The organizer claims 11,000+ attendees from 3,400+ companies, 1 in 3 C-suite, and 380+ sponsors, with meetings run through its own matchmaking platform. It’s the right call if you sell to banks, payment companies, or fintechs.

POSSIBLE: April 5-7, 2027, Miami Beach

The marketing event getting the most attention right now, and growing fast. The organizer reports going from 2,500 attendees in 2023 to 7,500+ in 2026. It’s built for consumer brand marketers, agencies, creators, and ad tech, with speakers from companies like MrBeast, the NFL, Tubi, and Cava. For a B2B + AI company, the invitation-only CMO Lab is likely the only part worth paying for.

Where We’d Put a 2027 Event Budget

If we were a B2B + AI company selling to revenue leaders with a fixed event budget:

  • Pick one or two events where your buyer is the core audience, not a side track. Two deep sponsorships will outperform six small ones.
  • Budget for the booth and stage time together. Our 2026 sponsors with the busiest booths and on-stage demos saw the strongest results.
  • Add a platform or vertical event only if that ecosystem already drives deals for you today.  If so, show up.
  • Ask every organizer for last year’s per-sponsor lead counts and references, and call them. Five minutes with a prior sponsor tells you more than any attendance number.
  • Track sourced pipeline per event at 90 days. Cut anything that didn’t produce it the following year, regardless of how the brand felt.
