So many of the big winners of the 2021 Era — Slack, Zoom, Calendly, etc. — seem so simple today
In actuality, the products are and were fairly complicated, feature-rich, powerful, etc.
Still it seems almost quaint in 2025 that single, seemingly simple PLG-led products could get…

One of the toughest challenges in 2025 is … “Should We Just Focus? Do Fewer Things, But Better?”
This is classic VC and social media advice, and of course, so much truth in it
- But … but … the world in SaaS has rapidly gone multi-product and platform the past 18+ months or so
- Much more that even beforel
- Almost every SaaS leader I’ve invested in by $20m ARR has 2+ core products in market, but it’s more than that. They are building platforms.
- Platforms often require 4-5 core products to even be fully featured.

So it’s tough. Yes, you do need to do fewer things better, or nothing will be great.
But customers also want much more from you. And the competition is building platforms.
You have to do … both. Less and More, in 2025.
Step up, or step aside. The days of a single product getting you to $100m ARR may be in large part … behind us.
We can’t all be Rippling, raising hundreds of millions and more to build 50+ products at the same time. But we can learn from leaders and trailblazers.
The point solution isn’t dead. But in the age of AI, agents, and platforms, the point solution has to be much more unique and special than just a few years ago.
That means, again, in 2025 almost all of us will have to step up.
