So the #1 issue I see across the start-ups I work with in AI for sales and marketing: they aren’t putting in the time.
They aren’t training their apps for up to 30 days straight before going live. And they aren’t doing QA and reviewing outputs every single day.
Across our core 4 AIs at SaaSr, we literally have trained them all for weeks upfront and then review their outputs and inputs every single day. Every day we are tuning them and making them better.
If you don’t do this — you don’t see the results. Period.
So it was very interesting to me to see HubSpot’s latest AI in Startup GTM Strategy Report note how key it is to do just that. Across 500+ venture-backed start-ups surveyed, 39% had a dedicated AI team, and 30% had an AI lead.
You have to do this, or you’ll end up being yet another founder or exec that complains that “my AI SDR doesn’t work”.
AI GTM tools are not set-and-forget. Not yet at least. You have to put in the time up front to train them for real. And then every single day to tune them. Constantly.
It’s worth to manage them, to “orchestrate” them. It may even be more work, and different work, than managing humans. But it’s real work.
Do you need a dedicated team? Maybe not if your head of marketing / growth can be that person. But you can own, train it, and tune it every single day by someone passionate about it that understands the tools inside and outside.
Otherwise, you get garbage in, garbage out.
