It can be hard to tell how many deals a VC has done from his or her website, or Crunchbase, because there’s often a long lag between deals getting signed and being announced.
Instead, just ask.
Ask a VC you meet what her last deal was, and when.
If it was very recently, they may be less hungry. Many VCs do a lot of deals back-to-back, but if you’ve just done one, you are less hungry, usually.
If it’s been more than 6 months, assume they are hungry to close a deal.
