A few basic rules:

  • If someone offers you >=$50m to sell, use an investment bank to manage the process. They will, at a minimum, destress the process. They should pay for themselves. They probably will >not< generate another real offer in time, however.
  • If acquisition is <$50m, the quality of the help often drops dramatically (the banks that do this stage), and the guys that work in this stage are >way< overworked anyway. Way too many folks are trying to sell their dogs. Here, my answer is, maybe. But not automatically.
