As an investor, if you could ask founders only one question before making a funding decision, what would it be?'


“What does the business look like at $100m in ARR?”

Because I can figure out the rest.

  • I can figure out if the founder is amazing. Without asking.
  • I can figure out if the space is interesting. Without asking.
  • I can figure out if the traction is real or illusory. Without asking.

What I can’t figure out is how some tiny little startup will get to $100m (I can’t see the future), and if the founders really are trying to build something huge.

A clear, thoughtful, direct answer here pretty much gets me to Yes.

If they stumble.

It’s basically always No.
