Q: How is IPOing and taking a company public now different than in 2000?

It’s much, much harder to pull of an Internet/Software Tech IPO.

You need:

  • $100m+ revenues (or approaching it),
  • growing 30-40% annually
  • and
  • a plausible path to profitability.

Come up close, but not quite hit those revenue and growth targets, and you might just barely be able to IPO, but you’ll get slammed, e.g. here $60m in revenues and 20% growth:
