I believe the top programs are worth it.
On the other hand, in general, an MBA is not valued for 99% of start-up jobs. I never cared about MBAs for any positions I hired for, and in fact, at the margin, viewed an MBA as a negative. MBAs often had higher comp expectations and an exaggerated sense of their management skills, with no direct on-point experience to justify these expectations.
But …
The networks you develop at Stanford or Harvard MBA programs are pretty amazing. And being surrounded by incredible strong peers makes you better and stronger.
I wouldn’t get an MBA in “tech” just to get ahead.
But if you want to do it, if your gut says yes … I think the benefits beyond the degree itself can be material.
